Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls
Ingredients:
- For the Egg Rolls:
- 1 lb (450g) ribeye steak or deli roast beef, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 package egg roll wrappers
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- For the Seasoning:
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- For the Dipping Sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp horseradish sauce
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Filling:
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add a small amount of oil.
- Add the diced onions, green bell pepper, and mushrooms (if using). Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the thinly sliced steak or roast beef to the skillet. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cook until the meat is browned and cooked through. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Stir in the shredded provolone and mozzarella cheese until well combined.
- Assemble the Egg Rolls:
- Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean, flat surface with one corner pointing towards you (diamond shape).
- Place 2-3 tablespoons of the cheesesteak mixture in the center of the wrapper.
- Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides. Roll the wrapper tightly towards the top corner, sealing the edge with a bit of water.
- Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Fry the Egg Rolls:
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the egg rolls in batches, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
- Remove the egg rolls with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Prepare the Dipping Sauce:
- In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well until smooth.
- Serve:
- Serve the Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
