Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
For the steak:
- 1 lb (450g) ribeye steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the cheesy bread:
- 1 loaf French bread, cut in half lengthwise
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the steak:
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil.
- Add the sliced steak and cook until browned, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the green bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Return the steak to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and mix everything together. Remove from heat.
- Prepare the cheesy bread:
- Place the halved French bread on a baking sheet, cut side up.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried oregano.
- Spread the butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
- Sprinkle half of the provolone and mozzarella cheese over the butter mixture.
- Assemble the cheesy bread:
- Spoon the steak and vegetable mixture evenly over the cheese-covered bread.
- Top with the remaining provolone and mozzarella cheese.
- Bake the cheesy bread:
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is crispy around the edges.
- Serve:
- Remove the cheesy bread from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Cut into slices and serve warm.
