Grandma’s Deep-Fried Egg Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
- Confectioners’ sugar for dusting (optional)
- Maple syrup or honey for serving (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, and salt until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour to the egg mixture, stirring continuously, until a smooth batter forms. The batter should be thick but pourable. If it’s too thick, you can add a little more milk to adjust the consistency.
- Heat the oil in a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Using a ladle or large spoon, carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Make sure not to overcrowd the pot, as the bread will expand as it fries.
- Fry the bread for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the bread to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Repeat the frying process with the remaining batter, working in batches as needed.
- Once all the bread is fried, dust it with confectioners’ sugar if desired and serve warm with maple syrup or honey for dipping.
Enjoy your delicious deep-fried egg bread, just like Grandma used to make!
