- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- For Frying:

- Powdered sugar
- Melted chocolate
- Whipped cream
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the chilled, cubed butter to the bowl and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
- Gradually add the milk mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
- Make the Cocoa Filling:
- In a small bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and melted butter until smooth and well combined.
- Assemble the Swivels:
- Roll the chilled dough out on a floured surface into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the cocoa filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll the dough into a log.
- Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices.
- Fry the Swivels:
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully add a few swivels to the hot oil, being sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the swivels until golden brown and crisp, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the fried swivels with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
