Cheesy Bacon Fried Pickles
Ingredients
- For the Pickles:
- 20-25 pickle slices (dill pickles recommended)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred)
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 4-6 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- Vegetable oil for frying
- For the Dipping Sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp sriracha or hot sauce
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Pickles:
- Pat the pickle slices dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
- In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the grated cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.
- Coat the Pickles:
- Dredge each pickle slice in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Dip the floured pickle slices into the egg mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.
- Finally, press the pickles into the breadcrumb mixture, coating them evenly. Press firmly so the breadcrumbs adhere well.
- Fry the Pickles:
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the pickles in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried pickles to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Make the Dipping Sauce:
- In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, sriracha, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Serve:
- Serve the cheesy bacon fried pickles hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
Enjoy your delicious and indulgent appetizer!
